2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM)
On 18th September 2025, members of the Hallam Art Group gathered at Hallam Community Hall for our Annual General Meeting. We enjoyed wine, cheese and a lively discussion!
Highlights from the Meeting
Exhibitions:
Our exhibitions continue to be a fantastic showcase of members’ talent. In May, 30 members displayed 136 paintings and 73 browser pieces. While sales were a little lower this year (likely due to the wider economic climate), the quality of work at the exhibition was extremely high, and as ever we received really positive feedback from visitors. A big thank you to everyone who volunteered their time—the exhibitions simply wouldn’t happen without the efforts of our volunteers.
Membership:
Membership renewals for HCYA and email communication with the art group are now managed through Member Mojo, so please check your emails (and spam folders!) for updates. If you’re not yet a member but would like to be, please see our membership information page.
Programme:
This year’s programme was packed with variety, from drypoint printing to life drawing via Egon Schiele (who we decided we don’t like very much…). Upcoming sessions include Edward Hopper, Inktober, seasonal pose and sketch, and a pastels workshop. Thanks to Rosemary and the programme team for all their hard work putting together such an inspiring series of activities.
We discussed the DVD night and agreed that if members would like to do their own work on DVD night they can use the Blincow room to avoid disrupting the DVD if they want to chat.
Publicity & Communication:
We’re active on Instagram and have a WhatsApp group for members - get in touch with Parsley if you’d like to join. Our website galleries are always open for updates, so please let Glyn know if you’d like to showcase your work.
HCYA
Lynda reported that the kitchen will be refurbished soon, so we may need to bring our own refreshments during October half term. Some improvements have been completed on the hall, including refurbished decking, remote controlled heating and hot water, and PAT testing of all electrical equipment.
Library
Christine has done a lot of work reorganising our library which now holds 225 books on a wide range of art topics, plus DVDs and magazines. Thanks to a donation from John Abbott, we’ve added some more books to the library, with others being taken by members. If you have suggestions for new books, please let Christine know.
Revised constitution
It was agreed that the ‘gold member’ category would be retired now that we no longer have a minimum attendance requirement for members. This change will be inclusive of all members who may be unable to attend regularly.
Committee changes
There have been a number of changes to the committee and other roles:
Jennifer will step down as chair - Glyn has been voted in as our new chair
Parsley has joined the committee and will support Glyn with publicity
Lynda has left the committee - Jennifer will take over as HCYA rep
Margaret has stepped down as Membership Support Secretary - Lynda will take over
Thank You!
A huge thank you to everyone who contributes to making Hallam Art Group such a welcoming and creative space.
